HIS YOKE

Image
The Bible, the Word of God, is the living word that speaks to us today just as profoundly and timely as it has throughout history. At this time, when the world is in utter chaos, and things are happening all around us that are truly unbelievable and hard to process, we need to and must look to God’s Word for direction, instruction and understanding. Paul’s letters to the Corinthians are particularly appropriate for us today, because the Corinthian culture and the Corinthian Christians were much like the culture of today and the American Church of today. For this study, we will be using 2 Corinthians 6:14-17 as our main text: Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light withdarkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said...

WHY DO WE NEED TO BE SAVED?

Image
Thinking Girls Bible Study is, as it states, for daughters of the King who want to dig deep.  That is, to take a closer look into the Scriptures, to look at the original language and find hidden treasures that come from mining.  Our purpose is to provide studies that go a little deeper than a devotional.  We do want, however, to provide a study on salvation for those who come across the site and want to understand better what exactly it means to be saved or perhaps how to know for sure if one is saved. A good place to start is in the beginning. Genesis 1: 27 "So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them."  Because we know that man was created in the image of God, we know that we are eternal beings.  We also know from 1 Thessalonians 5: 23 "Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Chris...

DO YOU EVER FEEL LIKE JOB?

Image
I have a confession to make.  Lately I have been struggling with rest.  If I were to grade myself on my spiritual life presently, I would give myself an A for surrender.  The Lord has worked on me and taught me much about surrender.  I have lived long enough to know that I might as well surrender. By that I mean, I've been on this earth long enough to know it's really dumb not to surrender to the One Who knows everything and has all the answers. Also, the Lord has done a great deal of heart work on me so that I WANT to surrender to my Lord of lords and King of kings.  But rest, I'm back to struggling with. I've been in about a twenty year trial where I've experienced some of my worst nightmares.  I think now I can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel.  Looking back, I see all the work He has done in me through the trial and I see how necessary it was.  I see that the work was customized...it had to be the way He did it.  Isaiah...

SALT AND LIGHT

Image
Don't we all agree that we live in a time of hate and meanness. The whole world seems to be angry and nasty. The love of many has grown cold, just as Jesus said it would. A question we could ask ourselves is, have we as Christians lost our flavor. We are supposed to be salt and light to this dying, decaying world. Are we? Let’s study. I will be using the New King James Bible and Blue Letter Bible’s Outline of Biblical Usage, Strong’s Definition and Thayer’s Greek Lexicon for references. The first mention of salt in the Bible is in Genesis 14: 3: “All these joined together in the Valley of Siddim (that is, the Salt Sea).” We have studied this significant chapter before. This is the chapter that tells us about Abram going to rescue Lot in Sodom when the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah were going to war against each other. The Hebrew word translated salt in this verse is melach and is defined in Strong’s as “properly, powder, i.e. (specifically) salt (as easily pul...

GOLD, SILVER, PRECIOUS STONES: A study of the Judgement Seat of Christ

Image
Judgement day. Do you think about it much? We all have a judgement day coming. There are actually two judgement seats spoken of in the Bible. One is the Judgement Seat of Christ where believers will stand before the Lord Jesus and give an account of what we did with our lives. The second is the Great White Throne Judgement for those who rejected the finished work of Christ to pay for their sins. I’m so very grateful that I get to stand before the Judgement Seat of Christ, knowing that He paid the price for the penalty of my sins and I don’t have to. Because of His finished work on the cross, my sins have been forgiven and removed as far as the East is from the West. However, I still find it very sobering to know I will have to stand before my Lord and Savior and give an account of what I did with my life — how I built on the foundation that was laid down in my life when I received Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I will using the New King James Version and the Blue Letter Bibl...

MAY ALL WHO COME BEHIND US FIND US FAITHFUL

Image
This summer we lost two heroes of the faith. Though they are no longer with us, their testimonies will live on indefinitely. Most people knew who Billy Graham was. Some might not be as familiar with the other one, Chuck Missler. Nevertheless, he had a huge following and impact on the world for Christ. Both had a tremendous impact in the world for evangelism and discipleship. It’s interesting as I write this, I see that in the twofold commission that Jesus gave his disciples that Billy Graham was most impactful in evangelism, while Chuck Missler’s call and passion was for discipleship. Chuck’s work can be found on his website khouse.org. I would urge everyone, if you are not familiar with Chuck’s Bible studies, to check them out. They have been most meaningful in my growth as a disciple of Christ. What is so significant about these two men and their ministries, is that their witness, impact and fruit will continue long after they are gone. This is true of so many, for example,...
